This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 21, 2007:
The television.
People in "first world" indutrial nations know significantly more movies and tv shows than books. They can quote more useless trivia and pop culture than meaningful quotes from important historical figures. This is a disgrace to intelligence. Generations of people grew up with television and that's all they know. The television is the gospel and it is the most awesome propoganda force ever in history. heaven forbid people read books...
If there were no television there would be immense competition in journalism and publishing. There would be many more intelligent authors and more information out there instead of mindless entertainment.
Like what Bill Hicks said, the great comedian, "if you are in marketing.....kill yourself. No seriously, this is not some joke where i'm getting to something, seriously kill yourself. You are the spawn of satan." Marketing preys on humans for money. It's real sad.
