What do you most want to know and understand?

Posted on Jan 25th, 2009 by Michael : Citizen Michael
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 25, 2009:

I wish I could understand people who voted for Obama. Well, I do understand them, but why would they vote for such a terrible person? He's got no real solutions to our problems, he's already started making things worse.

Obama voters generally are very uneducated about the real issues and they voted for him in blind faith.

I am very displeased, why would anyone bother voting if they don't know his stands on all issues?? What a waste!!!!

Thanks again america......(sarcasm)

Thanks,

M.W.G.

Wasn’t his whole campaign shouting CHANGE?

I think that’s enough for almost everyone. We’ve been doing the same thing for 8 years… We’ve been doing the same thing since capitalism and civilization and religion and lots of other things. There’s been too much oppression going around and, I’m guessing, the people who voted for Obama believed that we should try something DIFFERENT. We won’t solve any of America’s or the world’s problem by trying the same things over and over again.

If they didn’t work the first time. Why not try something different?

I wasn’t one who voted at all, on a personal choice. I’m just taking a shot at this post of yours.

You are one  angry, mixed up,  negative dude.
I wish you peace on your journey here at the Earth School.  You have a lot of lessons to learn.  Be a student.  Think with your heart, not your brain.  It will serve you and us better.  Be kind to others and yourself.  Release your anger gently.  Breathe….breathe.

You being a philosopher should know that, ones that do’nt quit this so called life here on earth, like your profile page read, are repeaters of doom.  And being the wise person that you so state you are, already knew this….right??

I agree with you. Why all of a sudden is a black/coloured person being so uplifted in the world asthe wonderful, magic, can-set-everything-straight? People are too naive and lovable, meanwhile EVIL is ruling the world. The more we want peace and love, the more we get the opposite. Why?

Winnie—> very wise response among the many confused attempts before you. We get the opposite because those at the top, who are really in control, are master manipulators of public opinion. People think that now since we have a black president, things will change, which they wont, obama has already ordered violence, and he acts just like an “old white guy.”

Giovanna—> What change do you think is right? If you can name any one of Obama’s proposed policies and logically tell me that it is a solution, then we might have a conversation. Why not try something different? Tell me if that different stuff is any better or worse than the past 8 years, if you do your homework, you’ll find its more of the same and worse.

Mimi–> You are lost. Discuss with me the issues. Until you do, you have no grounds to undermine my intelligence. You’ll see that obama runs the same agendas as bush actually, but more towards the oppressive socialism in Europe.

Mom’s the world–> please elaborate on the quote you provided for me. I also think you are lost and know nothing of the issues we face and any reasonable solutions to them.

carpe diem people!
I am not negative, I’m just stating the truth.

I think what bothers me most about your post is that you called President Obama a terrible person without saying why you think this is so. You just laid it out there as though it were a fact, when it’s clearly your opinion.

While I will acknowledge everyone is entitled to their opinions, I vehemently disagree with your assessment that Obama voters are uneducated, either in general or in regards to the issues. The more educated population is who became engaged because they care about the issues and they saw that Obama is making a place for citizens to participate and have influence. This is clearly a change from what has taken place for a very long time.

And as far as “more of the same” goes, I would also beg to differ there, as evidenced by the fact that already our new President has reversed a number of key policies established by former Pres Bush.

I hope that you will keep an open mind to the possibilities of Obama solving some of the very real and very large problems in America today. Although, whether your mind and heart are open to it, is perhaps, irrelevent. We can argue with reality, but it will be what it is.

Cheers~ Janet

In reality, I don’t even think Obama is the CHANGE we need. He’s talking about a different change that I will tell you about.

I don’t know if you’re familiar with Quinn and other authors like him. Who are for neo tribalism.  It’s a revolution of people who want to walk away from civilization and all the things that have been created from it. Such as poverty, famine, wars, disease, etc. I don’t know much about Obama’s policies and then that could be a reason why I didn’t vote. In reality, I don’t believe that the change he is bringing is going to do anything either. Not in the sense of saving the world and making sure we are still able to survive. Not survival as in “get a job and make money and be stable”. I mean completely survival from the destruction we are causing to our natural resources and the harm we are infliciting on other species.

Here’s a really interesting parable by Mr. Daniel Quinn to help explain even better the change I am for.

Michael,

I see you’ve associated your name with that of William Ford Gibson.
Am I right so far? I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt because I see
you say you are a Cancer, and one living in Maine according to your
profile.

I am who I am becuase I know I am right, that I love true freedom and
life itself and can only recieve advice from others to take a different
path, which I never will, unless by violent force imposed on me, which
is the rule of brutes and the irrational.

I am a philosopher in every sense of the word, I love wisdom, reality,
facts, logic, art,  and I loathe self-sacrifice because it is suicide.

So I am a hero, a champion of reason, of reality, of love, wisdom, freedom, morals and prosperity, and I will never quit this life.

I always prickle when I see that little word NEVER; seems like a awful
long time, don’t you think, Michael? Do you have a concept about
humility?

The question in the QaR was quite plain but you’ve taken it on a personal
tangent that I don’t quite understand. Is that what you most want to know
and understand?

I wish you well and will be interesting in watching your progress and growth
here at Gaia. Oh, one more little thing, did you think Senator McSame was
going to do any better then President Obama?

G’day ~lars

Fast Dart, I am so confident that I can use the word never.

I want to know personally and practically why people voted for Obama, when his actions already and his proposals spell disaster. It does not make sense!

Michael, you think politics makes sense? I voted for Obama because he was the best choice for me at that time. We’ll just have to wait and see what he does with it.

1. Why don’t you tell us what specific actions Obama has taken so far  that are disasters. Be specific.

 2. What would you have done differently that would be better choice?  Be specific.

3. What are the first five things you would do if you were suddenly  the president?   And tell us why you would choose the things and what the benefits would be for the greatest number of people.

It is very easy to be a critic.  But real leaders and educators have to come up with wise solutions that take into consideration many many factors.  In Canada, for many years,  the  opposition NDP party complained about the Conservative government, and to their surprise, the won an election.  They were not prepared to govern, because all their experience was complaining and being critical.  They had to learn really fast, and get the best minds and hearts to  help them govern well.

What are some of your suggestions to improve the lives of not only US citizens but for our fellow man. That’s kind of why we are here at Gaia.   Are you interested in making any positive suggestions?

Wonderful questions Mimi ! ! !

1. First Disaster—> Saturday, Obama authorized the armed forces to bomb an area where civilians were located in the middle east where potential “terrorists” were also hiding. The end result was civilian deaths, children too, so already, Obama has blood on his hands.
Second—> Obama is pushing a new stimulus bill which is essentially UNEARNED money given out to americans but later has to be payed back with interest. He wants the whole country in debt, and this is what he is pushing. The stimulus bill is SUPER-INFLATION, the creation of money out of thin air, and this inevitably devalues the dollar. The dollar is doomed to collapse because soon it will not be worth anything and no one will except it. That is why I am investing in GOLD. Dollars are worthless paper.

2. I would not order military strikes so far away from america that can kill innocent people. I would immediately bring the troops home and withdraw all armed froces from all other countries we occupy militarily. Keeping our army ready here is good protection, starting preemptive wars creates a huge amount of anti-americanism and the evil grows, as it should, because right now, we are imperialists who impose pur views on other countries by force, and that is immoral, the use of force, unless first violated by a specific person by force. Using the term terrorist is so ambiguous, that is why the war on terror will have no end, because every anti american is can be called a terrorist by the words in the patriot act.
—> NO STIMULUS. This is not capitalism, it is merely socialist and communist re-distribution of wealth. I will burn my stimulus check when I receive it. I do not accept the unearned, I AM NOT A WELFARE RECIPIENT. I am strong enough and intelligent enough to earn my own money. I do not need a hand out.

3. First Five things I would do as president.
—Abolish the fraudulent federal reserve and all fractional reserve banking systems. This would liberate the whole of america as after this, we would make a debt free form of specie currency, gold, silver, that has intrinsic value, so we could DEFEAT INFLATION.

Abolishing the Fed would be a wonderful day for freedom for us all. Currently, the Federal Reserve, which is neither Federal or a Reserve, has complete control over the creation and destruction of our money supply without any congressional oversight. This is unconstitutional, as in the constitution, CONGRESS has the power to COIN money, not to grant the power to a govt. subsidiary and make fiat currency, which is worthless paper. Read up on Andrew Jackson’s BANK WAR to learn the historical significance of my statements.
—Eliminate all government programs except those that protect our rights. This includes any and all welfare programs. In doing this, the CIA and IRS would be included. I would make taxes VOLUNTARY as they are and should be as outlined in the constitution. The taxes we pay now are taken by FORCE, this is unconstitutional. Americans would benefit greatly if they kept more of their pay and would do what they wanted with their money, and taxes would not be wasted as they are today.
—End all Wars. Afghan war. Drug war. Censorship war. Religion war. Iraq war. Tax war. All of these things are costly and perpetual. Separation of church and state is crucial. With our taxes the country is waging perpetual wars with no end in sight, this DRAINS the tax payers and brings no results.
—-Separate Government from economics. Because of governmental interference, we are in the mess we are in today. Our dollar fluctuates too much and people rely on welfare too much and our MIXED economy is doomed. I would install the ideal form of Laissez-Faire Capitaism so people could earn money and be successful without govt. help. Welfare is unearned and makes people weak. I am against government welfare and all subsidies.
— Lastly, I would re-install the CHECKS AND BALANCES that our constitution and government provided. I would denounce the unconstitutional power that the president now has, and allow for the other branches to veto my choices and allow for further debate. Currently, the President can ignore Congress and the Courts and do whatever he chooses. This is unconstitutional, just as is the Iraq war, Afghan war, Vietnam, Fed Reserve…so much more.

So that is ME as President. I learned alot of this from Ron Paul. He is the champion of freedom.

you can’t reasonably expect any government to end the wars that its very existence depends on, now can you??  not obama, not any political puppet you put in office can do that.  only the people can do that.  and they will, once they are ready to take responsibility and become self-governing.  we’re getting there, a little at a time.  everyone’s voice matters.  i’ll not join the chorus screaming for you to shut up, michael.  you make some good points, even if i disagree, i think it should be said, if that is what you truly believe to be so.
